About

Sometimes I forget what the hell I've just done... Hopefully if I write it down here I'll remember.

So I’m intersted to see my new AOL account details which show me my new phone account and billing. Imagine my surprise that I see someone elses account entirely!!!

AOL UK Security Fails

Not only is this not my account, but I can also view this persons detailed pages of phone numbers called  and costs of calls.

So now I know their name, phone number and their numbers dialled for the last few years! Nice details for a serial killer!

I spoke to AOL via their Live Chat service to highlight the problem and that was when the further problems started. The stated that they’d get back to me about the security problem - which to be fair to the support person, is all they could do about the software security glitch.  I did however have another problem with my recent broadband upgrade.

Broadband & Support Failure too

I was initially calling AOL to complain about my broadband speed. I changed from the AOL SIlver package - 2Mbps to the AOL Talk package - up to 8Mbps.  My calls are free but now my broadband speed has fallen to 1.6Mbps.

When I get onto the Live online chat I’m simply told that AOL don’t support my modem/router and before I can respond to that poor piece of info they “Push” the conversation to a Router Sales page with no getback.  The support bod has binned me!

Outrageous! I’ve used the router for over 2 years with AOL and have had no problems, but their poor support has just taken the biscuit now. I’ve been in the IT industry for over 13 years and I’ve never had such shoddy treatment.

Well what now AOL?  1 major fail, 1 customer fail.

Either you have to improve the service and support otherwise the customers will be worried about

a) Security of their data

b) Customer Support

c) Customer satisfaction
